Welcome to Ray Notes. The one of its kind to provide useful summarized notes for student, at zero cost.
Ray Notes also publishes very useful exam tips and helps to solve common problems experienced by O-Level students.
What makes Ray Notes website so unique is that the entire website is published by a student! Not a teacher, not a businessman, but purely a formal student.
The fact is, only student can understand what problems students faces, and knows what method of studying is the best.. as compared to adults and teachers.
Hey O Level students, thanks for all your support by recommending this website to your friends. Really glad to see the web counter jump above 10,000!
Remember that nothing is too late.
Weak in Math: Rush thru and finish the entire 10-Year series book! Clear all doubts as soon as possible.. Then start doing other sch test papers
Weak in Science: Summarize your entire TB in 1 or 2 day onto a set of plain A4 paper. Do TYS, Clear all doubts
Weak in Humanities: Summarise the TB or notes given by your teachers. Write on a piece of plain A4 paper in your own words. Memorise and study only the notes you've created, Textbook not required! DO NOT DRAG ANYMORE
Always must reflect on cleared doubts after any doubts clearing session!!!
If you're tired in class lessons, or when studying, I strongly suggest you drink a cup of ice/hot coffee in the morning before you leave home. Buy a packet of Mentos from Value dollar store ($1.05/pck) and use it to fight tiredness.
Listen to uplifting instrumental music, or other 'happy' music (with no words) when studying. I'd suggest the following music titles:

Ray-Notes 2009 have contacted major bookstores in Singapore, found out that this year (2009), there will be NO 10-Year series books released for 90% of all O-Level subjects.
This could be due to the difference in syllabus between the 10-Year series books and current syllabus.
Solution:Approach teachers for older 10-Year series books, request them for a photocopy. Don’t worry! Most topics in the old syllabus are also in the new syllabus, so old 10-Year series are still useful.
Get your teachers to print more school papers (from neighborhood schools), so that the standard of papers are still similar to the actual O-Level paper; not too hard, but also not too easy.
Always remember!Clear doubts as soon as you can.Never drag!Find your teachers before or after school, avoid during lessons. Take down all notes during class lessons.
Ask the teacher again if you haven understand that question - Must repeat this till you really have understood it!
All these notes are gonna benefit you when the big day draws near.
Take note: For Humanities subjects like Geog, History, Social Studies. When your teachers gives you printed notes, never just start memorizing from that junk of text! You will not score!
Step 1: Highlight all keypoints in the paper.
Step 2: Copy out all the highlighted stuffs onto plain white paper. (Number all phrases in 1) 2) 3) etc)
Step 3: Try to rephrase the sentences in your own words, as simple as possible! So that you can memorise easier.
Step 4: Make a cover page summarizing all key points in 1 or 2 words.
1st draft (Copied from Highlighted notes)
Problems of Development
1) Development causes population to increase rapidly, countries are unable to afford to take care of its own people.
2) Countries do not have sufficient capital to build schools for the citizens and medical clinics.
3) Developing countries experience shortage of food due as the population increases rapidly but food supply remains constant..
In your own words page:
Problems of Development
1) Increased Population - Country cannot afford to take care of its people.
2) No money to build schools and clinics.
3) Food insufficiency due to increase in population but no increase in food supply. etc ...
Problems of Devt:
2) No money
3) Food insufficiency
So before you take the paper, just browse thru the cover page quickly to get a glimpse of all the points. Remember: Longer answers does NOT = Higher Marks!
- Humanities papers are marked by number of points. So the more points you have, the higher you'll score. If it happens that you feel your answers look too short, just extend the sentence will extra words, ensure the main points are inside the sentence. Also do note: Write only 1 point in each sentence!
"No matter how dark the cloud, look for the silver lining; it is there, and when you always look at the bright side of things you develop brightness in yourself.
This brightness will strengthen all your faculties so that you can easily overcome what obstacles may be in your way, and thus gain the victory desired.
Direct your attention constantly to the bright side of things; refuse absolutely to consider any other side. At first this may not be possible in the absolute sense, but perseverance never fails to win.
However, do not try hard; gently direct your attention to the bright side and know that you can. Ere long it will be second nature for you to live on the sunny side. The value of this attainment is very great; first, because joyousness will increase life, power, energy and force; this we all know from personal experience, and we wish to have all the life and power that we can possibly secure; second, because the happiest soul never worries, which is great gain.
Worry has crippled thousands of fine minds and brought millions to an early grave. We simply cannot afford to worry and must never do so under any condition whatever."
